COUNSELING

Everyone can benefit from therapy. It is often a starting point for greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and growth.

EATING DISORDERS

A holistic, person-centered approach to disordered eating to support your recovery and overall health.

NUTRITION COUNSELING

Nutrition counseling is an ongoing process in which a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) works with an individual to assess his or her usual dietary intake and identify areas where change is needed. For nutrition counseling to be effective, clients must feel safe enough to be open and honest with their dietitian. Unfortunately, nutrition counseling often fails when clients fear judgment and resort to telling the dietitian what they think their provider wants to hear. Peak Serenity’s providers do not scold or judge clients for their eating habits. Rather, we take a collaborative approach to working with clients to create their own individual action plans for adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Intuitive Eating

Peak Serenity follows the Health At Every-Size (HAES) philosophy, providing a non-diet approach that takes away the need for clients to continue the chronic dieting cycle. We believe in empowering the individual to connect with their own body to determine their nutritional needs. Intuitive eating is what we were all born to do. Babies will cry, then eat, then stop eating until they are hungry again. We were all born with this capability, but for whatever reason―whether due to stress, emotions, scarcity, or rules and restrictions―some people lose touch with their inner sense of intuition. Peak Serenity will guide you in separating food from emotions― getting to the root reason you have turned to food to cope.

Medical Nutrition Therapy

Being diagnosed with a new disease can often be frightening and overwhelming, and these emotions can make it difficult for people to fully process medical guidance on how to manage their condition.  In other situations, people ‘know’ what they are supposed to do, but for whatever reason, they struggle to make those long-lasting changes.

Peak Serenity specializes in helping clients who struggle with maintaining the motivation for self-care that is necessary for managing their condition. Through medical nutrition therapy, we can help you process the emotions hindering your success, and get you back on track to managing your condition―whether it is diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, heart disease, or other medical diagnoses. We are here to support you wherever you are in your journey to wellness.  Not only will we offer guidance for managing your nutritional needs, we will also teach you how to process your thoughts and feelings, and find your sense of identity outside of your illness.

PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES

You may have specific reasons for seeking therapy, such as wanting to feel less anxious or sad. Your teen may be struggling with academic or social stressors. You may want to work on a relationship or change a pattern of behavior.  Maybe there’s no specific issue; life just isn’t working the way you want it to. We believe anyone can benefit from therapy, and it is often a starting point for greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and growth.

At Peak Serenity, we practice therapy that is grounded in evidence. We utilize an integrative approach with an emphasis in Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), & Family systems of therapy. Ultimately, we know that the primary factor for a positive outcome in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client, and we strive to create that constructive working therapeutic relationship with you.
